How We Make Our Lessons

Our editorial standards · updated July 2026

Our promise: nothing goes on this site until it has passed three separate quality checks — because most of our readers are trusting us with a language they can’t verify themselves. Here is exactly how it works.

Gate 1 — Is it true?

Before a lesson is published, an independent review checks every fact in it: the meaning of every phrase, the cultural claims, the traditions, the grammar notes. Anything that can’t be verified gets cut. When two sources disagree, we say so in the lesson instead of guessing.

Gate 2 — Does it sound right?

Every single word and phrase on this site has audio — and every audio file is listened to and checked, sound by sound, before it goes live: the soft Polish ś, the German umlauts, the Italian gli. Our standard is simple: would a native speaker nod? If the answer is anything but yes, the audio is redone until it is.

Our lessons carry one more safeguard: they are reviewed by native speakers.

Gate 3 — Is it consistent?

Before publishing we check every lesson against the rest of the site — so a phrase explained on one page never contradicts another, spellings and pronunciations match everywhere, and every play button plays exactly what its label says. After any change, the affected pages are checked again.

When we get something wrong

It happens — and our readers are our best editors. Our communities on Facebook tell us every day what feels right and what doesn’t, and we listen. If you spot an error, write to us at [email protected]. We check every report, fix what’s wrong, and re-check the page.

See it in practice

Open any lesson — every word has a play button. That’s the standard.
